The legendary singer Orpheus simply cannot accept the death of his beloved Eurydice. His grief stirs the compassion of the gods, and so he is allowed to enter the underworld, where he soothes the Furies with his music. Under one condition, he is permitted to bring his wife back to the world of the living. He must not look at her and must not tell her about this condition. However, his behavior is incomprehensible to the insecure Eurydice... At the threshold between Baroque and Classicism, the great opera reformer Christoph Willibald Gluck created his most famous work to this day. To achieve the greatest possible dramatic authenticity and to allow empathetic feelings with his main characters, text, music, and dance were to connect in ways never seen before in the spirit of what is being portrayed. In the new production by MiR Dance Company director Giuseppe Spota, dance will take center stage. In this collaborative work of the opera ensemble, MiR Dance Company, choir, and orchestra, the dancers together with the three solo singers will dive into the story of the unacceptable ending.
