Poor service. Reluctant and slow. Nobody speaks English. The equipment and surroundings are very old, but well-kept. If you are nearby, you can visit it, but it's nothing great.

Talking ONLY about the park itself, not the commercial establishments within it. I was reminded of a visit I made some weeks ago to Düsseldorf's Nordpark, and would give a similar word to describe this park "rundown" or even "scruffy"! Time improves the big canvas of a park like this: the trees are mature and majestic, but the approaches, including most of the 'wellness' centres, are very scruffy and even those that are open look uninviting! These parks, presumably opened when cash to maintain them was still available, look sad, neglected and underused! Gelsenkirchen has just completed a major revamp of its commercial centre which must have cost millions of Euros: a pity a small part of that could not have been spent on parks like this.
