Findus vs. Caruso: A Turbulent Children's Opera at MiR
When a rooster named Caruso suddenly takes charge on Pettersson's farm, the world of the cheeky kitten Findus is thrown into chaos. On Sunday, October 18, 2026, the Music Theater in the Revier invites families to a cheerful and musical stage experience at the Little House.
A New Rooster Causes Unrest
Pettersson takes the rooster from the neighboring farm under his wing and saves it from the cooking pot. The hens immediately take a liking to the splendid newcomer. Pettersson even bestows the persistent crowing with the name of the famous singer Caruso. However, Findus experiences this new attention as a threat and makes a consequential decision: the rooster must go.
A Family Opera with Humor and Emotion
The children's opera by Niclas Ramdohr, with a libretto by Holger Potocki based on the children's book by Sven Nordqvist, combines lively music with an easily understandable family story. The dramaturgy revolves around rivalry, jealousy, and the search for one's place in a family. From the comedic conflict, a reconciliatory message about friendship and solidarity ultimately emerges.
Dynamic Stage Art for Young Audiences
The production relies on the special intimacy of the Little House: lively play, pointed acting, and a theater atmosphere in which children can immediately dive into Pettersson's farm world. Music, stage design, and lighting create a colorful framework for the musical adventure. Askan Geisler takes on the musical direction.
An Opera Experience for the Whole Family
This revival builds on the successful family production of the Music Theater in the Revier. A press observation describes how young viewers enthusiastically received the opera experience and wished for another performance afterwards. The audience reaction shows: This children's opera playfully opens up the access to singing, orchestral sound, and stage art for children.
Conclusion: Curtain Up for Findus and Caruso
Petterson and Findus and the Rooster in the Basket promises a humorous, musical, and touching stage experience with a story that reaches both little and big theatergoers. Those who want to experience a family opera full of wit, sound, and warm theater atmosphere shouldn't miss this afternoon at the Little House.
