A look behind the curtain: MiR rehearses “Small Hands”
On November 4, 2026, when the doors to the rehearsal open in the foyer of the Musiktheater im Revier, theater work will be immediately tangible. At “MiR rehearses – Small Hands”, visitors will first receive a brief introduction to the production and then closely observe the daily work of the ensemble – from the best seats in the stalls.
Between tenderness and defiance
“Small Hands” combines contemporary dance, music, and a visually striking stage language. At the center are vulnerability and personal creative power. The songs by Wegner meet the powerful choreographic signature of Muhammed Kaltuk and unfold a tense dialogue together with the stage design by Moa Yamin Bomolo.
The production in development
A rehearsal shows the theater evening where dramaturgy, direction, and acting or dance art search for their final form. Movements are refined, musical impulses sharpened, and the impact of light, costume, and space immediately visible. This open working phase makes the stage experience particularly special: the audience witnesses not only a finished product but the creative process behind it.
An extraordinary theater evening
After the rehearsal, MiR invites participants of the production for a post-discussion. Questions about choreography, musical design, stage design, and dramaturgical conception find their space here. This creates a lively theatrical atmosphere where audience reaction and artistic perspective meet directly.
Conclusion: Experience theater up close
“MiR rehearses – Small Hands” promises a rare glimpse into the workshop of stage art: concentrated, sensual, and immediate. Those who wish to experience contemporary dance, musical theater forms, and the development process of a production up close will find a unique access to MiR here. Admission is free.
