In Wonderland, literature becomes a lively stage
Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland opens on October 30, 2026, at the Buer community library, creating an imaginative play space for children and teenagers aged 9 to 16. In the acting workshop with Thorsten Brunow, literary characters, surprising twists, and fantastic beings transform into their own scenic ideas.
Imagination as a starting point for performing arts
Whether hero, villain, or fantasy creature: Participants explore different roles and discover their personal expressiveness along the way. Voice, movement, improvisation, and presence become tools with which scenes inspired by Lewis Carroll are created.
A production to participate in
This stage experience does not rely on silent observation, but on active participation. In the theater atmosphere of the library, literature becomes a physical experience. The workshop's dramaturgy leads from character work to a joint scene, creating space for creativity, courage, and joy in playing.
Cultural education at the community library
The workshop combines reading promotion, theater education, and cultural participation. The event is funded as part of the state program Culture Backpack NRW and by the Friends of the Gelsenkirchen City Library e.V. Participation is free; registration is required at 0209 169 4378.
Conclusion: A day full of roles, ideas, and fantasy
Young visitors can expect a creative theater workshop with literary magic, playful role work, and plenty of room for their own stories. Those who want to not only read Alice in Wonderland but also rediscover it on stage will experience literature as vibrant performing art.
