Four truly extraordinary musicians create a wide musical arc to elegantly and charmingly weave modern jazz with folkloric elements from Southeast Europe and the Orient. Kaleidoscope. Translated as 'seeing beautiful forms', can indeed be literally heard here as a brilliant fluctuation of all spectral colors, bundled in a captivating sound event. Jazz guitarist Christian Hammer, seemingly blessed in his search for beauty, found three powerful fellow musicians and thus a congenial lineup for his quartet. Saxophonist Dimitrij Markitantov connects in his spectacular playing modern jazz saxophone with the vibrant, shimmering sound of Southeast Europe. Embedded and surrounded by Christian Hammer's jazz guitar, which sometimes contrasts, sometimes complements, sometimes gently caresses, quietly probing, then again decidedly, powerfully, full of stylistic brilliance. Alex Morsey lays the impressive foundation of the music with double bass and tuba and, with his unique playing style, sets also solo highlights of overwhelming musicality. The rhythmic threads are held in the hands of Fethi Ak, who marks the framework with his breathtaking and fast-paced playing, opening the space for the interpretation of original compositions as well as arrangements from jazz and world music.
