Hand in Hand: Orientation and Support in the Schalke Neighborhood
On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, the Schalke neighborhood store will open its doors for the citizen's consultation Hand in Hand – Accompanying New Immigrants. From 09:00 to 12:00, newly arrived individuals will receive personal advice, understandable information, and practical support on important everyday questions.
Advice that Reaches Everyday Life
The focus is on conversations in the mother tongue, orientation within the German assistance system, and accompaniment to authorities and institutions. The offering creates a trusting event atmosphere for all who want to find their way in a new environment, make connections, or plan the next step.
Information on Education, Health, and Work
The consultation conveys knowledge about existing structures of the regular assistance, education, and health systems. Additionally, information events with cooperation partners are planned, including the Jobcenter Gelsenkirchen and the Employment Agency. Thus, the project combines low-threshold counseling with a concrete target group approach and professional event planning.
An Open Meeting Place Without Registration
The Schalke neighborhood store is a local contact point for encounters, counseling, and orientation. The project is supported by the AWO Unterbezirk Gelsenkirchen/Bottrop and is related to the EhAP Plus project. Registration is not required; interested individuals can come directly during the consultation hours.
Conclusion: Experience Support Personally
Visitors can expect a calm, personal counseling setting with understandable information and concrete support. Those new to Gelsenkirchen or seeking assistance with authorities, education, health, or work will find direct access to helpful contact points at Hand in Hand.
