On the Trail of Ground Animals: Exciting Nature Experience for Children in Gelsenkirchen

On the Trail of Ground Animals: Discovering Small Crawling Creatures Up Close

On November 7, 2026, the city garden of Gelsenkirchen transforms into an exciting nature research lab for families. Children aged 4 to 7 years explore the forest floor together with their parents and discover what amazing creatures call the leaves, soil, and moss their home.

Exploration with the Magnifying Glass

Equipped with magnifying glasses, they set out to search for small ground animals. Snails, beetles, and other fascinating crawling creatures appear up close. Especially exciting: in the forest soil live animals with a natural armor. Careful observation, cautious wonder, and joint questioning make this family experience a child-friendly learning opportunity.

Experience Nature and Strengthen Child Development

The event combines children's laughter, curiosity, and fun in learning. While observing, children develop an age-appropriate understanding of nature and learn how diverse a habitat right beneath their feet is. The joint discovery supports perception, concentration, verbal exchange, and a mindful approach to small living beings.

Quality Time in the City Garden

As a parent-child offering, the event creates space for intense shared time. Adults accompany their children in research, compare observations, and experience joy over every new find. The manageable age group allows for child-friendly communication and a relaxed family experience outdoors.

The nature activity takes place outdoors in the city garden of Gelsenkirchen. For a safe learning experience, parents accompany their children throughout the entire event. Registration is required and possible starting June 15, 2026. For inquiries, the family support can be reached at the telephone number 0209 169-6149.
