Children Create Their Own Film and Celebrate Premiere in Gelsenkirchen

Name: Autumn Holidays – Our Film is Coming to the Cinema

End: 2026-10-28T14:00:00+01:00

Action, the first: Children create their own film

During the autumn holidays, the Gelsenkirchen Art School turns into a creative film studio. Children aged 10 to 12 will collaboratively develop an exciting story, write their own screenplay, and bring their ideas to life both in front of and behind the camera. This family experience combines children's laughter, fun learning, and quality time with a special goal: their own film on the big cinema screen.

From Idea to Finished Screenplay

At the beginning lies the imagination. The young participants think about characters, plot, and suitable scenes. They will experience how initial ideas turn into a cohesive story. This strengthens creativity, expressive abilities, and the joy of collaborative development.

Acting, filming, and dubbing

Next comes: Lights, camera, action. The children take on the main roles themselves, try their hand at acting, and actively shape their film. Working behind the camera and dubbing are also part of the workshop. The tasks are age-appropriate and promote teamwork, self-confidence, concentration, and media literacy.

A Real Cinema Experience to Conclude

The big highlight follows on October 30, 2026: The completed film will be shown at the Schauburg cinema on the big screen. Parents, families, and friends are invited to celebrate the premiere together with the young filmmakers. This transforms a holiday workshop into a visible success experience that combines curiosity, pride, and a sense of community.

Family-friendly and Educationally Valuable

The film project offers a child-friendly learning experience with practical tasks and creative design options. Children will learn how many individual steps are necessary for a film production and how important mutual consideration, clear agreements, and safety in collaborative work are. The event is organized by the Gelsenkirchen Art School e.V. in cooperation with ELE and Kulturrucksack NRW.

Conclusion: Holidays Full of Creativity and Children's Laughter

This workshop offers children an exciting journey from the first idea to the cinema premiere. Those who enjoy inventing stories, acting, filming, or discovering new creative sides of themselves will experience a special holiday day in Gelsenkirchen. The big screen awaits – now live the film dream.
