Action, the first: Children create their own film

During the autumn holidays, the Gelsenkirchen Art School transforms into a creative film studio. Children aged 10 to 12 collaboratively develop a story, write their own screenplay, and bring their ideas to life both in front of and behind the camera. A special family experience filled with children's laughter, curiosity, and visible joy in learning.

From Idea to Own Film Story

It all starts with imagination: The young participants consider what story they want to tell, develop characters, and write fitting scenes. They experience how many individual ideas gradually form a common screenplay. The age-appropriate collaboration strengthens communication, expression skills, and confidence in their own ideas.

Acting, filming, and adding audio

Then it's time for the stage! The children take on the main roles themselves, experiment with acting, and learn how to prepare and shoot film scenes. Filming and voiceover also belong to the program. They discover how images, language, sounds, and music work together to bring a story to life in a child-friendly way.

Creative Learning Experience with a Sense of Community

The workshop combines media education, creative play, and collaborative design. The children experience themselves as screenwriters, actors, and as part of a film team. This practical learning experience promotes imagination, teamwork, concentration, and self-confidence. The art school offers a protected environment where their ideas are welcome, and safety in collaborative work is prioritized.

Grand Premiere at the Cinema

The highlight follows on October 30, 2026: The finished film will be shown on the big screen at the Schauburg cinema. Parents, families, and friends are warmly invited to celebrate the premiere together with the young filmmakers. The moment when their own story becomes visible in the cinema hall gives the children pride, amazement, and a lasting memory.

Conclusion: Holiday Workshop with a Real Premiere Moment

The offer is aimed at children aged 10 to 12 who enjoy stories, acting, filming, and creative teamwork. From the first idea to the finished film, they experience a varied family experience with practical media education and plenty of time spent together.
