Action, the first: Children create their own film

During the autumn holidays, the Gelsenkirchen Art School will transform into a creative film studio. Children aged 10 to 12 will collaboratively develop an exciting story, write their own screenplay, and experience a special family adventure filled with children's laughter, curiosity, and learning fun.

From the idea to the own screenplay

At the beginning lies the imagination: The young participants will think about what story they want to tell, develop characters, and bring their ideas into a cohesive narrative. While writing the screenplay, they learn how individual ideas can come together to form a cohesive story.

Acting, filming, and dubbing

Then it’s time for the stage to be set. The children take on the leading roles, try out acting, and discover how film scenes are prepared and recorded. Filming and dubbing are also part of the workshop. In doing so, they will experience age-appropriately how images, words, sounds, and music come together to create a finished film.

Creative learning experience with team spirit

Working together strengthens expressiveness, self-confidence, and social development. The children learn to share ideas, listen attentively, and make decisions together. Thus, the workshop combines child-friendly media education with practical learning experience, creativity, and safe shared time during the autumn holidays.

Premiere on the big cinema screen

The big highlight follows on October 30, 2026, at the Schauburg cinema. There, the finished film will be shown on the big screen. Parents, families, and friends are cordially invited to celebrate the premiere together with the young filmmakers. The special cinema moment makes visible what the children have created with imagination, courage, and teamwork.

Conclusion: A film adventure to join in

The workshop offers children aged 10 to 12 a creative family experience with acting, camera work, screenplay writing, and a premiere. Those who love creating their own stories and want to experience the journey from the first idea to the finished film will find here an inspiring, child-friendly, and educational vacation activity. Now experience the young filmmakers live and eagerly anticipate the grand premiere together.
