Action, take one: Children create their own film

In the autumn holidays, the Gelsenkirchen art school turns into a film workshop: Children aged 10 to 12 years will collaboratively develop an exciting story, write their own screenplay, and bring their ideas to life both in front of and behind the camera.

From Idea to Big Screen

The workshop combines creative writing, acting, filming, and sound design into a special family experience. The young participants take on the main roles themselves and create their film step by step – from the initial idea to the final product.

Creativity, Teamwork, and Learning Fun

While developing the plot together, the children experience how individual ideas come together to form a coherent story. This strengthens imagination, expressiveness, and team spirit. The age-appropriate learning experience allows for curiosity, independent creation, and collaborative learning in a creative environment.

Lights, Camera, Premiere

The big highlight follows on October 30, 2026: The finished film will be shown at the Schauburg cinema on the big screen. Parents, families, and friends are warmly invited to celebrate the premiere together with the young filmmakers. This turns the workshop into an unforgettable family experience full of children's laughter, pride, and the true atmosphere of cinema.

Conclusion: Making Stories Visible Together

The workshop gives children creative holiday time, new learning experiences, and the opportunity to be active in front of the camera. Those who enjoy stories, acting, and film will experience an exciting week in Gelsenkirchen with a special conclusion at the cinema.
