Michael Sailstorfer – Factory connects sculpture, technology and site-specific art in and in front of the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen. The exhibition invites visitors to perceive the relationship between artwork, space and technical environment from a special perspective.
Michael Sailstorfer works at the interface of object, installation and space. In Gelsenkirchen, the specific exhibition location is at the center: the exhibition takes place not only inside the Kunstmuseum but also in front of the building. This explicitly includes the public or architectural space in the exhibition experience.
Sculpture and Technology in Gelsenkirchen
The title Factory refers to an engagement with technical, industrial or production-related contexts. At the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen, these aspects meet site-specific art that deals with the conditions and peculiarities of its respective environment. Visitors can experience how sculpture transcends the classical interior space and engages with its surroundings.
The exhibition will be on display from November 28, 2026 to May 30, 2027. It is aimed at anyone interested in contemporary art, sculpture, and unusual connections between art and technology. The transition between indoor and outdoor spaces is also part of the presentation concept.
Visit to the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen
Since the exhibition takes place inside and in front of the Kunstmuseum, a visit considering both areas is recommended. Information on opening hours, admission prices, and special mediation offers is not provided in this event information. For concrete planning, interested parties should therefore check the website of the Kunstmuseum Gelsenkirchen.
Michael Sailstorfer – Factory offers the opportunity to discover art in direct dialogue with the place Gelsenkirchen over several months. The combination of sculpture, technology and site-specific design makes the exhibition a remarkable destination for art enthusiasts in North Rhine-Westphalia.
