Maurice Dickson brings Irish soundscapes to Consol Theater

On Friday, October 16, 2026, Northern Irish singer-songwriter Maurice Dickson will perform at the Consol Theater in Gelsenkirchen. His concert in the cellar bar combines virtuosic guitar playing, Irish folk, blues, personal stories, and an extraordinary multi-instrumental performance.

Between Folk, Blues, and Moving Life Stories

Maurice Dickson develops a unique sound experience from traditional folk and blues picking. His music draws from encounters with people and cultures, from a love of life, and from personal experiences with the traumatic consequences of the Northern Ireland conflict. As a result, his songs possess an emotional depth that goes far beyond mere entertainment.

Virtuoso Guitar Work and Unusual Instruments

At the center of the performance is Dickson's expressive stage presence. In addition to the guitar, flute, bodhrán, hang pans, and didgeridoo may also come into play. This instrumentation expands the sound palette between Celtic melody, bluesy grounding, and percussive dynamics. Original compositions, unique interpretations of Irish music, and selected covers ensure musical variety.

Humor, Intimacy, and a Special Live Atmosphere

Between songs, Dickson shares everyday Irish situations and his travels with dry humor and fine self-irony. Sometimes sentimental, sometimes with a wink, intimate concert moments arise in which the audience and the artist are directly connected. The cellar bar of the Consol Theater creates a particularly close setting for this.

A Traveling Musician with International Stage Experience

As a world-traveling guitarist, Maurice Dickson has been seen at folk festivals and concert stages in Europe and beyond. Event descriptions honor him as an outstanding representative of the English and Irish folk scene. The trade magazine Irish World particularly highlighted his qualities as a singer-songwriter.

Conclusion: An Evening of Concert Full of Character

Visitors can expect an intense concert experience with virtuosic guitar playing, unusual instruments, Irish storytelling, and a warm, direct audience atmosphere. Those who love folk, blues, and handmade live music will experience Maurice Dickson up close on October 16, 2026, at the Consol Theater.
