Barblues with Ruhr Area Soul: Dean & The Blue Bros live in Gelsenkirchen

On October 30, 2026, the werkstatt in Gelsenkirchen will transform into a meeting point for authentic blues, country, and rock’n’roll. Dean & The Blue Bros will bring their unique barblues to the stage – with a lot of feeling, musical experience, and a sound that goes straight to the soul.

Blues between Ballad, Blues Rock, and Rockabilly

The four musicians, with adopted home in the Ruhr Area, came together in the summer of 2022 through their shared love for blues music. Their repertoire combines haunting blues ballads with country, blues rock, rockabilly, rock’n’roll, and folk. Original compositions, often penned by singer and guitarist Dean Newman, meet selected cover versions of well-known and lesser-known blues and country greats.

Four Musicians, A Multifaceted Live Sound

Dean Newman shapes the band with vocals and guitar. Markus Al Buscher adds double bass and additional vocals, Heinz-Dieter Mobers enhances the colors of sound with lead guitar, tenor saxophone, and accordion, while Werner Snoop Volkner provides distinctive harmonica moments with the blues harp. The instrumentation creates a varied orchestration between warm double bass, rough slide and lead guitar, bluesy harp, and expressive brass colors.

Audience Proximity and Musical Passion

The band stands for a direct stage performance, years of performance experience, and a tangible connection to the audience. Werner Snoop Volkner is already familiar with the werkstatt as a member of The Blues Brawler, which has performed there multiple times and in 2025 at the Kulturbiergarten. This local familiarity promises a focused live atmosphere with short distances between the stage and the audience.

A Concert Evening for Blues Lovers

The concert begins on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 7:30 PM. Admission is 15 euros, 10 euros for werkstatt club members, and 5 euros reduced. There is no advance sale; reservation requests will be accepted via email by the werkstatt.

Anyone wishing to experience handmade blues with country influences, rockabilly drive, and Ruhr Area charm will find an evening full of groove, feeling, and instrumental color with Dean & The Blue Bros. Secure your spot and experience barblues live at the werkstatt.
