COMFORT in Gelsenkirchen: Baroque Music Provides Stability and Hope

COMFORT: Baroque Music Between Lament, Trust, and New Vitality

When certainties are lost, people seek stability. The concert COMFORT – When Weapons Fall Silent on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in the Glass Hall of Schloss Horst, is dedicated to the quiet and powerful moments between distress, optimism, and inner reflection.

Music as a Space for Comfort

At the center is Georg Österreich's sacred concert Ah Lord, how many are my enemies. Together with the baroque orchestra caterva musica, tenor Jonathan Dräger, and trumpeter Pedro Henrique de Souza, a program is created where lament and hope meet directly. The historical sound language of baroque music gives existential questions a precise form while also allowing space for personal resonance.

Between Lament and Confidence

The musical dramaturgy navigates through emotional tension fields: distressing lines, concentrated voices, and instrumentally elaborated sound colors collide with moments of warmth and new beginnings. Orchestration, articulation, and chamber musical synchronization converge into a stage performance that does not rely on overwhelming effects but on intimacy, clarity, and expression.

A Concert in a Special Atmosphere

The Glass Hall of Schloss Horst provides the perfect setting for this evening. The Renaissance ensemble of the castle and the modern event hall create a connection between history and the present. In this special acoustics, the baroque sound can unfold directly: voices, trumpet, and instrumental ensemble enter into an intense dialogue.
